SPRING DANCE RECITAL

Our Spring Dance Recital is an afternoon of dance and excitement for our children and parents. This recital showcases the skills your child has learned through the fall/winter season. An annual dance recital is "in-it's self" a learning experience and completes the study of performance art while teaching students stage presentation and performance skills. All dance classes participate in the recital (unless otherwise specified). Students perform in full dance costume.

Please review the following information and FAQ's. We look forward to producing a fantastic show for family and friends to enjoy! The children are full of excitement and anticipation for this memory making experience and they look forward to showing you what they have worked so hard to achieve. We hope to make your recital experience a positive one!

RECITAL FEES AND NO-REFUND POLICY

Due to the cost of producing a recital, we strive to keep Villa West parents aware of recital expenses and the commitment of perticipation in advance. We now offer a payment schedule for fees due and an explanation of these fees. Each class requires the purchase of one costume to be work for the recital performance. In addition to the costume cost, there is a $75 non-refundable recital fee per family due to secure our use of the theatre facilities.

Unfortunately, there are no refunds on either the recital fee or costuming for any reason. We must secure our recital theatre venue and process costume orders in advance based on the number of participants; the theatre and costume manufactureres will not offer refunds, therefore, Villa West is unable to extend a refund if you should later decide to not participate in the recital event.

FREQUENTLY ASKED RECITAL QUESTIONS:

Q- WHEN IS THE RECITAL?

Sunday, June 3rd at Sullivan High School. There will two performances held at 1:30pm and 5:00pm. Students classes will perform in one show only.

Q- DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE?

A- We highly recommend this exciting opportunity to perform in a professional performance setting. Our recitals are fun and family friendly! If you should decide not to participate in the recital, we encourage you to continue with lessons and come see the show!

Q- DO WE HAVE TO BUY TICKETS?

A- No. Our performances are open admission.

Q- WHY DO WE ORDER COSTUMES SO EARLY?

A- Costume manufacturers require approximately 12 weeks for production of large orders. We receive the best pricing by ordering early and are able to pass the savings on to you the parent. If we wait until spring to place a costume order, we pay a much higher price for the costume and risk not receiving the costume by our recital date.

Q- WHAT IS THE RECITAL FEE FOR?

A- Each family is required to pay a $75 recital participation fee to defray the cost of the theatre. While your tuition pays for our studio facility, upgrades, utilities and faculty salaries; the recital fee pays for the rental of the theatre facility. We reserve the theatre based on the number of participants and the amount of time needed to provide quality instruction and performance. Charges for Event Insurance, Dressing rooms usage, security personnel, restroom facilities, theatre heating/cooling and janitorial services are all additional fees that the Recital Fee defrays.

Q- DOES YOUR STUDIO TAKE RECITAL PORTRAITS?

A- Our studio will be offering purchase of group (class) photographs taken at dress rehearsal. More information regarding group portraits will be distributed as it becomes available. Please see the front office to view previous seasons group portraits. Individual portraits are no longer offered through the studio. It is recommended for clients to seek their own photographer if they would like an individual portrait taken.

Q- ARE WE ALLOWED TO TAKE PICTURES AND VIDEO RECORD THE SHOW?

A- Cameras are allowed with NO FLASH. Flashes are dangerous and distracting to the children performing on stage under stage lighting. So please remember to disable your flash setting. You are invited to record the performance. Please be considerate of all theatre guest and keep equipment to the side or back of the theatre.

Q- DO YOU HAVE A PROFESSIONAL VIDEOGRAPHER?

A- A videographer will again be taping our performances and producing a beautiful DVD for purchase. Order forms will be available in advance and also at the show.

Q- WHAT ARE THE "EXTRAS" REQUIRED FOR THE YEAR END SHOW?

A- Some studios may require parents to sew their child's costumes, or pay extra and the parents must find their own seamstress to do the sewing. This can be inconvenient and frustrating for parents who are busy or can't sew. Most studios also require parents to purchase tickets for the recital performance. Our studio does all the costume ordering for you. We size your child with measurements for the best fit. We do the size translations based on the costume company's specifications. Our studio distributes costumes orderly with a classroom parents meeting and recital question/answer session. Our studio does not charge admission to the recital performances. This way you as parent will not be faced with any extra work, stress or expenses.

Q- WHAT IF I AM UNABLE TO PAY FOR MY CHILD'S COSTUME BY THE DEADLINE?

A- Costumes can not be ordered with out payment. Those unable to pay by the ordering deadline would need to see the front office to determine if a special (non-group) order may be placed. Prices for special orders are more costly unfortunately and there are no guarantees the costume will arrive by the recital date.

Q- MY CHILDREN ARE IN MULTIPLE CLASSES AND I HAVE MULTIPLE COSTUMES TO BUY!

A- While it is wonderful to expose your children to a variety of subjects and styles; every class has a one costume required for the recital. You might find it necessary to choose one class for your child to do recital participation in and simply let them take additional classes for the experience. There is nothing wrong with limiting the amount of costumes to buy or routines to be performed. Let your child decide what class performance they wish to show the most! Our recital is memorable and exciting for everyone, whether performing once or multiple times, it is a great educational experience!
